ITT – JLR Solihull WPD Project
Doocey Group were awarded the contract from Western Power Distribution for the installation of two new 11KV cable circuits from Copt Heath Primary Substation on the Solihull Bypass to a new LOC substation on the site of the new Jaguar Land Rover development on Damson Parkway, Solihull. The project comprised of a 4.7km duct installation, 9.4km cable installation, preparation of joint bays, 11kv triplex cable jointing and all associated traffic management.
The scheme included challenging bridge crosses on a very busy section of the highway.
Doocey Group completed investigation works prior to works commencement to fully understand depth of bridge decking or if spare duct could be utilised. From the investigation works it was establish that no spare duct could be utilised and a site meeting with WPD confirmed that ducting would be laid directly on top of the bridge deck and steel plates installed above prior to reinstatement been completed.
This section of public highway is used by Jaguar Land Rover when testing their vehicles and close collaboration was required prior to commencement of the project to ensure minimal disruption was caused. It was agreed with all parties involved that these works would be completed at night to ensure the highest customer satisfaction. This implementation also meant that minimal disruption was caused to the local traffic and any surrounding business.
Delivery of the project was to our client expectations with zero customer complaints received.
