Cambridge Water – History in the Making
January 2020 saw the installation of a new 450mm main which runs through NIAB/Darwin Green, between Huntingdon Road and Histon Road, Cambridge. On the face of it, these seem like normal connections, albeit on biggish mains in a traffic-sensitive location. However, if you look at the attached diagram, you will see that this section of main and the final connections represent a significant milestone in the company’s history as they complete a ring main that circles the whole of Cambridge.
Although the diagram is greatly simplified, it clearly reflects the development of water sources in the south during the 60s, 70s and 80s, and the ever-increasing need to transfer water to Coton Reservoirs.
Doocey Traffic Management played a vital part in this historic connection. Having control of our own traffic management is always a big benefit when working on a busy highway. Doocey Traffic Management are making good progress since branching out in the Cambridge area helping to deliver many water contracts with other independents.
