Doocey Group Open Day 2022

Doocey Group Recruitment Open Day 2022 was a huge success with close to 100 people signing up for an interview and despite the downpours, over 200 people attended. With umbrellas at the ready and gazebos for shelter we were able to showcase our demonstrations and activities with various plant and machinery on display. Also, bringing people inside to show various departments and give an insight to what is involved at Doocey Group.

Having engaged with many local schools, colleges and universities lately we have made a huge effort to encourage a new influx of people into the company.

Giving attendees an overview of what we do and the career opportunities available, our outside activities included Genny & Cat, pipe fusion, pipeline resilience, directional drilling demonstrations with one of our vacuum excavators in operation. This included a live demonstration of Doocey’s safe digging techniques. Indoor activities explained what part we play in infrastructure with other key functions of our internal business such as Commercial, Finance, Procurement, SHEQ and much more.

Our first cohort started with Sandwell College this week on their 5-week pre-apprenticeship. 75 will be put through, from which 15 people will be chosen for our desirable apprenticeship in Level 2 Highway Maintenance starting 12th September 2022.

Overall we were amazed by the turnout given the weather and proud to showcase Doocey Group to the potential new starters. It was a fantastic effort from all of our team! A huge thankyou goes out to all our staff, Sandwell College and anyone else who has helped steer this before, during and after the event.

Our links to Sandwell College for the apprenticeships has kept this whole project at the heart of the black country as we continue to grow after nearly 40 years in business.
